Seems the Clintons are livid at being compared to Anthony "Can't-Keep-It-In-His-Pants" Wiener and his wife.

Gee. I wonder why.

"Hey, Craig Fugate!"

"Now that you've run FEMA, one of the most incompetent and bureaucratically inept branches of the Federal government that has consistently screwed Louisiana since August 2005, what are you going to do now?"

"I'm going to be Secretary of Homeland Security!"

Not if David Vitter (D-LA) has anything to say about it.

Only in Washington, DC, can the Peter Principle be exceeded.

If You Can't Make It...

...Fake it. It can get you to the top in all sorts of places. Like, President of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, apparently:
Leslie Cohen Berlowitz, who has overseen the 233-year-old Cambridge honorary society for the past 17 years, had been on paid leave from the academy for more than a month after the Globe reported that she falsely claimed a doctorate from New York University and misstated her work history in federal grant applications and other documents over the past decade.
And what does a little resume padding get you? Well, in the world of non-profits, it seems quite a tidy sum. And you don't have to worry about staff morale or customer relations to earn your keep:
Berlowitz also came under fire for regularly berating staffers, micromanaging the academy’s affairs, barring scholars from viewing the academy’s historic archives, and receiving an outsized pay package -- more than $598,000 in fiscal year 2012 alone for an organization with only a few dozen staffers, several times what her peers were paid.

WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!  I Blame Man-Made Global Warming. Or, CFC's.  Yeah, that's gotta be the reason.

Quick, send the Sierra Club a donation.  That should help.

To Protect And To...

...Run Away! Run Away! Run Away! Reason number 15,001 why concealed carry and 'stand your ground' matter:
A man who was brutally stabbed by Brooklyn subway slasher Maksim Gelman two years ago had his negligence case against the city dismissed in court yesterday, despite the fact that two transit officers had locked themselves in a motorman's car only a few feet from him at the time of the attack.
(Emphasis RSR)

And why did two of New York's finest suddenly imitate Brave Sir Robin?
The city, meanwhile, claimed that the NYPD had no "special duty" to intervene at the time, and that they were in the motorman's car because they believed Gelman (the assailant)had a gun.
Guess they missed What-A-Gun-Looks-Like-Day in Cop School. Next time some government-loving type starts prattling on about how we don't need a weapon because we have police, remind them that when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Or, in this case, a motorman's car an a set of balls away.

Via: Instapundit.

UPDATE: On second thought, perhaps these two Sir Robins weren't real police, who are armed and trained, but ersatz cops. They do happen. One Louisiana state agency I know even gives shields and spiffy blue windbreakers, with the agency's name in big yellow letters on the back, to their plan reviewers - folks who sit behind desks with a red pen. Anyone can wear 5.11 pants, but not everyone is capable of rising to the duties that the 5.11 pants were designed for.

Take This Down.

Seems the Feds now want your passwords:
The U.S. government has demanded that major Internet companies divulge users' stored passwords, according to two industry sources familiar with these orders, which represent an escalation in surveillance techniques that has not previously been disclosed.

If the government is able to determine a person's password, which is typically stored in encrypted form, the credential could be used to log in to an account to peruse confidential correspondence or even impersonate the user.
Dear Snoopy Fed-types,

I'll make it easy. Let me spell out my password for you. Got a pencil and paper? Good. I'll go slow to make sure there is no mistake. Ready? OK.

First letter is "F". What? Yes, it's all uppercase.
OK, now a "U".
Next is "C". Write neatly now.
And after that, a "K".
So far, so good? Great. Next is "space".
What?
Yes, I know it's the final frontier. But that's not important right now. Just make a little line after the 'K'. Like that. You're doing fine.
Next word begins with "Y".
What?
No, not 'why', the letter "Y". I don't know... why not? We're getting off point here. Did you write it down? OK.
Next letter. It's an "O". Make it nice and round. Dandy.
And the last letter is, "U".
That's it. Now, do a read back...

Still Crazy After All These Years.

Why Creative People Are Eccentric:
It isn’t just average Joes who perceive highly creative individuals as eccentric. These individuals often see themselves as different and unable to fit in. The latest findings in brain imaging, creativity research and molecular biology suggest that these perceptions are not just based on a few anecdotal accounts of “weird” scientists and artists. In fact, creativity and eccentricity often go hand in hand, and researchers now believe that both traits may be a result of how the brain filters incoming information.
UPDATE: A friend reminded me today of an incident that shows, first hand, how some folks look at eccentric/creative folks. An employee (they found out later) was so scared of a (mildly) eccentric colleague, that when he left she followed him around with a pistol as he packed up, worried he would go postal. I may be eccentric; but at least I'm not paranoid.

We're Doomed.

Parenting in the era of Hope and Change:
It’s easy to mock a “30 year old who lives with is parents.” My son is almost 29 and he’s been home with us since he graduated. Unfortunately the job market isn’t the greatest (maybe you hadn’t heard) and I’m not going to let him starve on the street. He has a college education, it’s pointless for him to be out working in a retail store or some other menial job. I will be here for him until he is able to get the job he deserves.
Read it all, including Matt Walsh's response. We are raising a generation of layabout, dependent child-men. No wonder Obama won.

Good Kid 1, Bad Guy 0.

Another douchebag learns the meaning of "Second Amendment":
A 14-year-old boy shot and nearly killed an intruder who broke into his Phoenix home and pulled a gun on him while he was watching his three younger siblings, police said Saturday.
Apparently, this young lad did not listen to The President (pbuh) the other day when he said running away is the new American Way. I mean, the armed intruder wasn't trying to make the children go to church, or preventing the 12 year-old girl from getting an abortion, or stopping the boy from giving his teacher a blow job.

I'm Shocked. Shocked!

OK, not really. Seems lots of folks in Obama's housing bailout program are defaulting again:
Nearly 1.2 million mortgage modifications have been completed since the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) was first launched four years ago. Yet more than 306,000 borrowers have re-defaulted on their loans and more than 88,000 are at risk of following suit, the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) found in its quarterly report to Congress.
I'm not sure what the problem is here. The Democrats have - to their credit - succeeded in creating lots of "affordable" housing. Take Detroit, for example.

Fourth Amendment? What Fourth Amendment?

Someone should be writing a fat check and/or going to jail over this. And it's not the frightened girl or her boyfriend, either.

It's their home. If you don't have a warrant and they won't let you in, Mr. Rambo'ed up Po-Po, you don't come in. Period. I don't care how much 5.11 gear you're wearing. Enforcing the Law is no excuse for ignoring it.

Our Colorblind Senator.

Senator Mary Landrieu (D-DC) on the electorate in Louisiana:
“I think it’s a purple state, it can go Democrat or Republican. I’ve just tried to be independent for Louisiana and I think that’s what’s sustained me over time.”
Purple? Really? We just amended our Constitution with strongest language about the right to keep and bear arms in the nation, something our good Senator talks about but consistently votes against. On things like immigration, the environment, and the the Obama Agenda, Mary is almost always at odds with the wishes of the majority of Louisiana voters.

Independent? If you define "independent" as "Harry Reid's reliable bitch", then yes, Mary is... independent. Mary has only won by slim margins against weak candidates, and in '08 only because of the Obama surge. She will have neither in '14, but she will have a lot of a lot of people who remember her voting against her constituents, and for Obamacare, after Harry Reid made the infamous 'Louisiana Purchase'. The one color Mary Landrieu can always see is green.

'Ol Smokey. (UPDATED)

You, dear readers, paid $40,000 for this masterpiece to commemorate the job-killing tenure of Obama's recently resigned EPA head, Richard Windsor, sorry, Lisa Jackson.

Look closely, art fans, and help me out here. Is that smoke emanating from her ladyparts creating the rustic mountain stream? Or, is the clear spring water flowing, douche-like, in the other direction? Either way, it really, really creeps me out.

Creeps out my Congressman, Rep. Bill Cassidy, too, and he has introduced the EGO Act to stop such excess. Especially when the productive class in this country is still struggling.

I'm Shocked. Shocked!

OK, Not really:
From Maine to Oregon, local floodplain managers say FEMA’s recent flood maps — which dictate the premiums that 5.5 million Americans pay for flood insurance — have often been built using outdated, inaccurate data. Homeowners, in turn, have to bear the cost of fixing FEMA’s mistakes.

“It’s been a mess,” Darling said. “It’s been a headache for a lot of people.”

Joseph Young, Maine’s floodplain mapping coordinator, said his office gets calls “almost on a daily basis” from homeowners who say they’ve been mapped in high-risk flood areas in error. More often than not, he said, their complaints have merit. “There’s a lot of people who have a new map that’s unreliable,” he said.
We're having similar issues here in Louisiana. But hey, it's FEMA. Like you expected competence?

If This Is True, Then James O'Keefe Is An Douchebag.

I am A Tea Party, South Park Republican.  And there is no doubt James O'Keefe has done more than anyone to expose the hypocrisy and criminality of The Left / Mainstream Media in these last five years. He has gone after the truth where no one else would dare.

But this goes WAY beyond the pale. This wasn't about exposing abuse or fraud by the Democrats and their hangers on. This appears, from what the article indicates, to be a petty, personal vendetta.

Jim Letten is a friend of mine. He is, without a doubt, one of the finest and most honorable men I have had the pleasure to know. Know his wife and kids, too. And for O'Keefe to try to embroil them in his anger is not 'guerilla journalism'.  It is simply despicable. Despicable.

One correction, though, is necessary.  The article's insinuation that O'Keefe's ACORN videos were not accurate is bullshit.  They were no more "selectively edited" than a 60 Minutes expose video is "selectively edited".  Plus, O'Keefe released the full raw feed which backed the up his conclusion.  Ever see Morley Safer do that?

I'll Take 'A Convenient Shooting' For 5,000,000 Votes, Alex.

When is the prosecution of George Zimmerman not about race? When it's all about race.

To be fair, this case was never really about race - or justice, for that matter - but deflection and votes. Race was simply the means to that end. Obama needed to focus his base in 2012 away from his disastrous presidency, and turn out that base in record numbers. What better way than to have a modern day Emmett Till to parade around, with George Zimmerman as a useful Bull Conner? Add to that Obama's working to suppress the opposition (and mostly white) vote, plus the willing and eager help of the Mainstream Media to accomplish both, he was able to pull it off. (OK, a milquetoast Republican candidate didn't help...)

If this was truly about race, then the folks who should be up in arms right now are the Hispanics. Zimmerman is, by today's definition, Hispanic, not white. But Obama needed the Hispanic vote, too. When Zimmerman's ethnic origins came out, his description in The Left / Mainstream Media moved quickly, Orwell-like, from "white" to "white Hispanic". Had you ever heard of the classification of 'white Hispanic' before, dear readers? How about a 'black Hispanic'? Me, either. Since one of his parents was white, they claim, then Zimmerman was "white". By this definition then, Barack Obama is not our first African-American president - but our first 'white African-american' president.

If whipping up racial tension wasn't the goal of Obama and his supporters in The Left / Mainstream Media, then why keep the "white" descriptor in there? Because it maximized black anger and liberal guilt, and it kept this from becoming a black vs. Hispanic thing. Which generated votes for Obama in 2012. And that, dear readers, is the only reason George Zimmerman is a household name today.

Impartial Application Of The Laws Is SOOOOO Yesterday.

I hope like hell this is not true, or is being misinterpreted, or being blown way out of proportion. I pray that it be so.  If not, and the United States Justice Department did indeed work to purposely whip up racial anger and hatred, then I think a line been crossed.

And those in government need to be put back on their side of the line.  By force of Law if possible (and some contemplative jail time), but they need to be restrained.  That is, after all, what the US Constitution is - a giant restraining order on the government taken out by the People.

Obama and his henchmen have decided for themselves which laws to enforce and when they will enforce them; they have used the powers of government to hinder and harass their political opponents; they have spent billions of taxpayer money to enrich their cronies and benefactors; and they have bent, folded, spindled and mutilated the U.S. Constitution.

If this had happened with a Republican President, The Left / Mainstream would screaming for impeachment. And thy would be right, and I would support them.  But given their idol-worship of Obama, what we will hear is hypocritical crickets.  We have heard them many times before in the last five years.

More for The Landfill.

Once again, Team Hopenchange's national busy-bodies are forcing food on our kid's school lunch plates that they won't eat. Kids don't make food choices based on "an affordable and nutritious high-protein option". Duh. Makes you wonder if any of these people was ever a kid.

Or rather, I'm beginning to think this country is being run by those weaselly kids in school who would rat you out to the teacher, and always seemed to run for student council.

Why Not? They Lied To Us About ObamaCare.

A government without honor wants us to use the 'honor system'.

OK. So let's do to them what they do to us:  Lie.

More Adventures From The Bureaucrat Chronicles - 'What Difference Does It Make Now?' Edition.

Another shining example of the brightest minds to help solve our biggest challenges:
A State Department officer has been accused of selling visas for sex and money in what may have been a massive human trafficking operation, The Daily Caller has learned.

The State Department acknowledged last week that one of its officials is the target of a probe over “allegations of improprieties relating to a Consular Officer formerly assigned to Georgetown, Guyana” without providing further details. Local media are also claiming the official, who was recently withdrawn from normal duties pending completion of an official investigation, associated with drug lords as part of his visa scam.
Look for The Left / Mainstream Media to do their best to sweep under the rug, like all of the Obama scandals. Look Proles! A Kardashian Baby!

Here's another commenter.  And another.  Boy, they REALLY don't like Jews.

Call Me Cynical...

...But I ain't buying it. 'Ging-Giss' John Kerry, our part-time Secretary of State, has taken some heat recently for focusing on his yachting skills while Egypt burns. Now, suddenly, this:
"Teresa Heinz Kerry, leading philanthropist and wife of US Secretary of State John F. Kerry, was at Massachusetts General Hospital tonight after being rushed this afternoon to Nantucket Cottage Hospital, where a hospital spokesman had said she was in critical but stable condition.

Heinz Kerry, 74, was stricken with an unspecified medical condition this afternoon and taken by ambulance to the local hospital, accompanied by her husband, according to Glen Johnson, spokesman for Kerry.

Noah Brown, public information officer for Nantucket Cottage Hospital, verified that Heinz Kerry arrived at the hospital this afternoon, but said he could not disclose the nature of her illness.
Sorry, Dear Readers, but my Massachusetts political cynicism is going off big-time. When we lived up there, every time Ted Kennedy got caught with his hand (or other body parts) in the cookie jar, Mother Rose would have some sort of medical issue and Ted would be seen wheeling her round in a staged photo-op. Distraction, accomplished. I think John's problems will vanish quickly from from the headlines now.

If We Had A Republican Administration...

...this would be big-time news.  Or maybe if they burgled her psychiatrist's office instead.

Rounding Third...

Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, opines on the pesky Third Amendment, and how it is is another in a string of Constitutional Amendments governments seem to ignore in their "wars" on, well, on almost everything (drugs, guns, crime, large soft drinks, buying bottled water).

This is America. A man or woman's home is their castle. If you don't have a warrant, mister tactical-costumed po-po, you must ask permission to enter. Period. Using "please" helps, y'know.

The Obama Recovery.

As we head into the middle of our fourth 'Recovery Summer', let's look at what Barry, Joe, and the rest of Team Hopenchange have accomplished:  The longest measure of 7-plus percent unemployment on record, only  47% of adults have full time jobs, and our deficit for FY 2013 is only - only - $845 billion, dropping below $1 trillion for the first time in four years.

Aren't you glad they saved us from the Bush "unsustainable" $400 billion deficits and 5% unemployment?

UPDATE: The ObamaCare Effect: More part-time jobs, less full time jobs.

The Third Amendment, you ask? Yes. This one:

But, but... police aren't soldiers.  Oreely? Could have fooled me.

Flat Earth First!

In the Obama Era, comedy just seems to write itself. Last week, our Dear Leader equated those who don't buy into the ever amorphous and ever changing danger of "climate change" to being members of the "Flat Earth Society".

Well, the actual Flat Earth Society is not at all amused, and it turns out it's leader supports The O's paranoia about man-made warming/cooling/not-behaving-like-our-expensive-computer-models-predict.

Yes, the Flat Earth Society really exists.

Hang On - Quality, Affordable Helath Care is Just Around The Corner.

Obama promised.  And when it arrives, you can expect things like this to get worse.  They always do in a plan/command system.  Plus, it will cost you and me, the productive class, a whole lot more in order to make it "affordable".

The Obama Principle.

Back in the 60's someone came up with the 'Peter Principle', which postulated: "Employees tend to rise to their level of incompetence."

Now in the era of Hope and Change, we have the 'Obama Principle':  "Federal employees tend to rise to their level of incompetence.  And will be promoted when they get there."

Nothing To See Here. It's Only A Dead, Headless Catholic.

Meet the thoughtful, tolerant Syrians Obama is arming, and The Left / Mainstream Media are ignoring.   The President and is buddies have already armed criminals and drug traffickers in our hemisphere, which The Left / Mainstream Media also ignored. So at least they're being consistent.
