Granted, we also had to close our small business so although the raise was nice; it was nicer when we had a 2-income household.
The other day, our mortgage company called to ask us if we wanted a loan modification using government assistance. The lady then had to listen to my 15 minute rant about what all that "government assistance" has done to this country.
The audacity, I swear. "Hi I'm from the government; I'm here to help."
