People Can Leave The Church, Not Dioceses. Oh, Wait...

The liberal Diocese of Uruguay, a supporter of The Episcopal Church (tm), has voted to secede from the more conservative Province of the Southern Cone. There is opportunity here: Perhaps Gregory can trade Uruguay to Kate for San Joaquin and Pittsburgh, and save everybody a lot of legal bills.

When are we going to start applying the "Lincoln Doctrine"? You know, the one that says a breakaway state may be forced back into the union by force of arms.

Wait...does that mean USA policy (to be consistent) should be that China has a perfect right to force Taiwan back into their sphere?

There's a lesson in here somewhere for you Kate!

No. It means The ROC can take China back by force of arms.

Taiwan was ceded to Japan by the Qing court in the Treaty of Shimonoseki after the First Sino-Japanese War in 1895. In 1945 the Republic of China acquired Taiwan from the Empire of Japan as a result of World War II. Four years later the ROC lost mainland China in the Chinese Civil War to the Communist Party of China and retreated to Taiwan.

But Katy says you can't do that! Wonder how she'll get around this situation without being hoist on her on petard? Interesting!
