...You just may get it.
There is movement afoot to recall our current Governor, Bobby Jindal (R-Spineless), because of his refusal to veto the Legislature's doubling of their own salaries. A copy of the recall petition is here.
While I understand the sentiment (Governor Mitch Landrieu), and the anger (Governor Mitch Landrieu), I don't think folks are thinking this through (Governor Mitch Landrieu). What if the recall is successful (Governor Mitch Landrieu)? Read what our State Constitution says about succession (Governor Mitch Landrieu). If Jindal is removed, our next governor (Mitch Landrieu) would be......
Is that what you REALLY want?
Me, either.
UPDATE: Well. wadda ya know - a vertebrae sighting: Jindal just vetoed the pay raise.

I know hardly anything of Louisiana politics, but the issue that you face there reminds me of the national issues, in which Dennis Kucinich really really really wants to impeach and convict George W. Bush. It would be funny if Pelosi changed her mind and consented to the move, Bush were impeached and convicted...and Cheney stepped into the Oval Office for the remainder of the term.
Then again, if both Bush and Cheney were impeached and convicted, Pelosi would become President. Maybe she'll reconsider her objection.
I still don't understand why it went so far in the Legislature before it was shot down. Maybe it was a political move to get the people completely behind Jindal? Who knows. But I'm glad he vetoed it. I'm tired of paying more in taxes than I should already.
