removes it's cross, using the standard-issue rationale:
We're all about hope, encouragement and the joy of the Christian faith. We want to communicate good news, not bad news, so we need a more uplifting and inspiring symbol than execution on a cross.
Isn't that execution on a cross, and the willingness of the executed to suffer for all of us, at the very core of Christian Faith? You know, this stuff:
Philippians 2:8: And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!
1 Peter 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Unbelievable....Actually, distressingly believable.
I hope they don't crack open their Bibles and notice the many occurrences of the word "blood" - oh, wait, they probably think the Bible's a major downer also.
I bet their readings this liturgical year come from this Dr. Phil book. It's the "doing new thing" way, you know.
