Lost In Translation. (Or, Greg Griffith Asks A Simple Question.)

Stand Firm's Greg Griffith asks the Presiding Bishop about, um, something:

I presume this is from her visit to Jackson, Mississippi, the other week. I hope Greg uploads the rest of her answer (we were just getting to the words-mean-whatever-we-want-them-to-mean-that's-why bit), and any others from that talk.

Note: written as a former Episcopalian, now Agnostic. (thanks to "Modernism")

If the plain teachings of a deity, or their prophet can be replaced at will, is it really a religion, or just a socio-political group where the elites get to dress funny?

Who should you believe, God or this lady?

If she's saying God's word should be ignored, just who is she working for?

The reason for my agnosticism: if the leader of a major Church is leading the flock astray, isn't a rectal lightning bolt in order?

This is skillful sophistry at its best. She weaves an answer pulling together disconnected facts pulled out of context and uses them to weave them into a pattern of fabric that suits her position. She knows that decorum will not allow a confrontation and even if it does, she is comfortable with the tension of that confrontation and bets (accurately) that many of her adversaries are not.
