Oh. My. God. The I-35W bridge is in the Mississippi River. Not some of it. All of it. At rush hour. James Lileks, who lives in the Twin Cities, is blogging very recent info here, and has links to the Star-Tribune's images. They are difficult to view, to say the least.

UPDATE: All the talking heads on CNN and Fox are off, as usual, on a speculation race as to why this happened - proving once again their utter irrelivence as sources of reliable information. Look Shepard, Greta, and Anderson, I'll make you a deal: I promise never to read a tele-prompter on live TV, if you promise to never again attempt engineering principals that you clearly know little about.
